DEI becomes the PaperWise Top Business Partner in the Southwestern U.S. - 4/30/2008

DEI, with 8 new client implementations in the past 7 months, has earned the honor of becoming PaperWise's Top Business Partner in the SW United States.  Included in the new clientele, are law firms, a steel fabrication company, a large public school district, a mid-sized insurance brokerage and a couple of healthcare facilities.  More prospects are in final discussions now to implement new PaperWise systems over the summer and Fall of 2008.

DEI bolsters its advanced Scanning and Data Capture business with new releases 2/2/2008.

Customers needing more and more automation in the scanning and processing of their paper documents and their data get even more solution options and potential from the DEI line of document imaging and data capture products.

PSIGEN just released its full new version of PSI-Capture 3.2x.  PSI-Capture, a very strong solution for the cost, is a quite a leap from its predecessor, PSIGEN's previous banner product, 'Scan HQ'.  New improved batch capture reporting, security, process design and indexing options, along with better storage and migration support, will be sure to spark a new high in the PSIGEN sales curve.

Kofax is preparing a huge change to its normal Ascent line of products.  Kofax Capture 8, set to release in May of 2008, now sets monthly or annual volume as its core piece, with low cost workstations and scan stations.  The new line of Ascent will now be called simply "Kofax Capture 8", with its offerings of Xtrata Pro, for advanced structured forms processing, and Indicius, for advanced auto-recognition of HCFA and other forms, as well as contractual forms and documents.  New configurations of Kofax Capture will come out at 5-9% less than older Ascent configurations and be much easier to set up in solution design and ordering.

Autonomy has released its new version of Cardiff Teleform (v.10.2x) that has improved multi-form auto-recognition, easier advanced template design, and more integration with PDF Forms, XML and Database feeds, and other E-Form processing options.  At its lower entry price-points, Cardiff continues to sell strong into companies and enterprises not able to afford 6 or 7 figures for high-volume deployments.

Fujitsu and Kodak top DEI List of Best Scanner Procurements - 10/07/2007

After 3 months of exhaustive testing on new units in the field, DEI staff rated Fujitsu and Kodak as their top offerings for scanner sales to new clients for the year 2007, on and up to the next date of comprehensive scanner testing.

After testing new releases of Bowe Bell & Howell mid-volume and high volume Spectrum units, Kodak low, mid and High volume units including the new i1860 scanner, all of the new 5000 and 6000 series line with Fujitsu, the Panasonic 3105C, 3065 CW, and their 2026C models, Canon's DR 7080C, 9080C, Visioneer, Xerox and several new copier-scanner MFP models, Fujitsu and Kodak offerings rated as the top 2 scanner makes for DEI to offer their clientele.

"The biggest news was that Fujitsu finally met or bested Kodak throughput on low, mid-range and high-volume scanners.  We didn't expect that."  Terrence Abrams, CEO of DEI, "We thought Kodak and Fujitsu would rank 1-2 again, with Bell & Howell a trailing third."

The release of Fujitsu's 2nd edition of the fi-5900C High Volume model (conservatively rated at 120 ppm,) actually equaled or improved upon the Kodak i600 line, a very successful seller, right on up to its fastest model, the i660 (120 ppm).  Their fi-5650C rated better than the Kodak i-280 or i260 models for matching throughput and having a more durable construction.  Kodak has announced the arrival of a new scanner line that will again challenge back for the mid-volume market.  Their new i1440 is set for an early 2008 release date.

A last minute entry by Fujitsu, the fi-6140C, with the smallest footprint of any speedy scanner, had incredibly high durability marks and provided reliable scanning rates of a true 60 ppm in simplex bitonal, and had new features of automatic page-straightening, page protection and Kofax VRS Professional bundled in all for a price under $2,000.00

"This scanner changes the game a bit."  Eric Francis of DEI.  "It's only rated at 2000-4000 pages per day, but it looks unbreakable.  It's a real production desktop scanner without needing a huge desktop."

Fujitsu has more releases scheduled along late 2008 for even faster scanners with heavy production parts in a small size.

Kodak triumphed clear and away for their i840 Scanners and their new i1800 line which reaches reliable sustained throughputs up and just over 200 ppm, with great image quality and their usual immaculate paper handling.  "At this speed, no one touches them for qualified scanning throughput.....yet."  Terrence Abrams.

One high selling entry, Canon, with its office supply franchises and partnerships, failed to break the top 4 again, due to more delicate parts, slow spare-part replacement service and a bit more feeder jams after short-terms of use.

Filling out the evaluation list in order were:  (in terms of the entire scanner line)

1.  Fujitsu

2.  Kodak

3.  Panasonic

4.  Bowe Bell & Howell

5.  Canon

6.  Xerox

7.  Visioneer

DOCS ETC, Inc. has recently finished agreements with 3 partner companies for increased Enterprise Content Management system deployments and vertical industry marketshare expansion.  Over the past 14 years, DEI has worked very successfully with various regional partner companies in the document management arena.  Here are the latest prestige partner additions and what they bring to the DEI partner affiliation advantages:

River City IT

Danny Munoz, President and Owner, River City IT in Austin, TX, reached an agreement with DEI to provide ECM solutions and document scanning conversion services to his clientele requiring updated software solutions and technology implementations.  River City IT has been a major provider of network services and office equipment themselves over the past 10 years, but is positioning themselves in a well-earned consulting space and to launch off as a new ECM provider with DEI assistance.

PAPERWISE SUMMIT CONFERENCE A BOOMING SUCCESS!

DEI just attended the PaperWise 2006 Summit Conference in Branson, MO.  It was a fun time for all and very informative as the ECM industry player PaperWise hosted a majority of end-users and channel partners at the "Chateau on the Lake" resort and hotel.

PaperWise demonstrated the new thick and thin client versions 6.1 and 7.0 (not yet in public release) that accommodate for the significant changes in upcoming Microsoft releases of Windows Vista, Longhorn and Internet Explorer 7.0.  The new PaperWise design and modularity offers customers even more powerful management of all of their information files and workflow processes than ever before.

To a guest, the PaperWise Summit Conference was widely applauded for how the ECM software system has advanced into the upper tiers of Enterprise Content Management in just a short couple of years.  The new Advanced Workflow Suite raised the most eyebrows with the level of robust power, reliability and mission-critical safety it offers its clients.

(T. Abrams, DEI) "They sure keep bringing it.  I'd never thought they'd be in a position now, to offer such powerful workflow and ECM tools at such a low price-point.  Even when we ask them for new and really advanced feature integrations, they don't stop supplying client satisfaction on a pretty quick schedule.  What more can we ask for?"

PaperWise expects to release its updated version 6.1 in December, with version 7.0 set tentatively for late Spring.  All PaperWise end-users will be able to request their free upgrades upon official release dates.  DEI will also be taking pre-release date upgrade orders and execute the pre-orders once release date shipping commences.

Public Education System Business still Booming - 9/02/2006

DEI recently added-on more modular features and benefits to two of their four public education enterprises.  In a late August onsite inspection, DEI had been asked to develop many new features of their ECM solution for public school districts and institutions over several states.

In one public school district, DEI designed and presented several new features, easily configurable in their ECM system.  Those new subsystem functions were:

  • Student Tracking System

  • Cumulative Student File System

  • Construction & Maintenance Paperless Operations

  • Construction & Maintenance Procurement Automation

  • Integration with the legacy Accounting Application

  • Electronic Forms and Automated Workflow

  • Automation of all Staff Hiring Processes

  • All HR Personnel Recommendation, Transfers and Retirement

  • School Campus Hourly Worker Request and Hiring

  • Resume Content Analysis and Auto-Routing

  • Budget Tracking Forms and Data Exchange

  • Oversized Scanning of Engineering Documents & Maps

  • New Student Admissions

  • Business Analysis Reporting on School System Processes

  • High Volume Conversion of School System Records and Admissions

  • Grading System Integration

"The client was amazed that all of their desired features could be easily configured or quickly developed from their one ECM system..."  (Eric Francis, DEI) "...we're putting in for pennies on the dollar, what about 4-5 other education system software vendors were trying to charge these public school systems around $600,000.00 on up to $2 million dollars for procurement."  DEI provided a robust PaperWise ECM solution to this particular public school system.

"It was amazing what money could be wasted in this public sector,..."  (Terrence Abrams, DEI), "we found all sorts of Public Education Software vendors offering simple database-over-the-web applications for exorbitant prices and with a severe lack of open integration ability.  We also found several competing Document Management vendors promising the moon with software applications that were severely limited in scale, design and ability.  It's very nice to provide a client with the solution that is far more comprehensive, reliable and really making a statement for their budgetary dollar.  PaperWise ECM Software and their development team really made this happen fluidly and trouble-free."

Of DEI's four public education enterprises, 2 are located in Texas and 2 are in Louisiana.  DEI has used three different ECM systems in these four client sites depending on the client's expressed requirements and needs analysis at the time of their initial implementation.  DEI is currently in talks with 4 new public education prospects that either don't have any Content or Document Management or need to replace poor Document Management systems that delivered far less than what was promised in years past.  DEI does have Public Education School System experience which most competitors do not have and keep open minds and system abilities to address the growing needs in a difficult business model like public education.

DEI's most recent public school system client has now had an additional 9 system demonstrations, covering all departments and campus needs. The client is also planning to expand their four department initial installation into an Enterprise-Wide Content Management System.  Budgeting has been set for fiscal 2007.

State of Louisiana Department of Education now offering Student Transcripts over the Web to Parish School Boards and Universities who need them - 08/15/2006.

The State of Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) running its Content Management System from DEI, has added World-Wide-Web access to Student Transcripts for students attending public and private schools in the State of Louisiana.  Now, Parish School Boards needing to review, analyze or even correct student transcripts stored with the State Records and the Dept. of Education can retrieve, according to State-secured access, a student's transcript records and history.

The LDOE has been performing advanced Document Management, Automated Workflow, Records Management and Administrative Services with their OnBase ECM system for over 6 years to date.  Recently, the LDOE's IBM Transcripts System was converted to a new Windows and MS SQL Database platform for upward mobility and system standardization.  They wanted to marry the related student transcript information to all of the other archives in the LDOE's ECM system, so onsite administrators contracted DEI to design a working OnBase ECM integration whereby all transcripts could be stored in the LDOE repository, retrieved, viewed, and with secured access, even edit the student's transcripts online.  Now the Parish School Boards can retrieve, view or edit student records as necessary, with nothing but a web browser on their desktop.  The LDOE central network and servers do the rest.

Universities in Louisiana can now request Student Transcripts online from a single source, avoid postal mailing of certified paper transcripts, and have the information needed for admission in 1/10th the time it would have normally taken to receive.  The LDOE is still working out policies for other approved institutions to access the student transcripts.  Now Parish School Systems receiving student transfers into and out of their schools can easily get the transcript information they need in seconds, instead of several weeks or months as was found to be typical.

"The policy makers at the LDOE, their system administrators and their ECM system local administrator have been so smart and foresighted at the LDOE, that we could merely contact Hyland Software (OnBase) and manage the program with their developers to achieve this advanced integration.  Customers with vision allow us to get right to work in solving a problem like this with expediency.  Hyland Software developers are so good, we have to work hard just to keep up with them." - T. Abrams, DEI, 7/31/2006

Real Estate Developers and Construction Builders moving to ECM with a purpose - 08/02/2006.

DEI signed its first agreement to implement a Real Estate Development and Builder's ECM solution with the PaperWise Software System.  In competition and/or cooperation with normal Real Estate Development vendors such as Sage Timberline, Microsoft Business Solutions, IDIA and Great Plains Software, DEI won a contract to make a large 3-state Real Estate Development Company paperless and business-process automated on document-centric work cycles and processes.

With the installation date tentatively set in December, for new office relocation considerations, the client has authorized DEI to begin discovery services for workflow analysis and digital scanning conversion and filing of each departments' paper documents and electronic files such as MS Project and AutoCAD files.

The client will then later implement the rest of their ECM solution, offering advanced Content Searching for their own customers across their business website and through selected portions of their digital archives and workflow cycles.  It is expected that for a mid-sized investment, this client will save over 7 figures in the first year of new ECM operations alone.

"They have a lot for us to do, that is certain, but the work they are asking for is actually fairly simple and familiar to us.  We should show them a record time to reach ROI (return on investment)."  B. Cameron, DEI  "Sales Contract work cycles, integration with their accounting and inventory management systems, Title and Deed document distribution and approval, these are all things we've done before with great expertise."
